Summary

Description
English: The flag of the municipality of Bodø in the county of Nordland, Norway. Its design is shared with the municipal arms, and shows the midnight sun, as Bodø (counting latitudinally from the south) is the first major city in Norway north of the Arctic Circle. Bodø's first arms, from 1889, already contained a golden sun on a red field in its upper part, while the lower section showed a sort of coastal landscape with a boat. Those kinds of naturalistic scenes are however unheraldic, as well as vexillologically unsuitable, which prompted a heraldization. New arms, and a matching flag, were created and subsequently approved by governmental resolution 1959‐07‐24.
