Summary

Description
English: Little Caledon River outfall of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project near Clarens, where between 4 and 10 m³ water is released per second, to arrive at Bloemfontein after a journey of 200 km. It provides the Mangaung metro and other Free State towns with an expensive water source when a water crisis is at hand. In the case of Mangaung the cost is 11 times higher (R2,20 per kiloliter vs. 18,7c per kiloliter at 2014 prices) than normal. Concern was also expressed that water may be extracted at Maseru or Ladybrand, or by farmers along the river banks.[1][2]
